Waleed personally knew some of the family members of Malcolm X. And formerly worked as a Muslim chaplain at Norfolk prison, where Malcolm was last incarcerated. Waleed also befriended the other Malcolm; Malcolm "Shorty" Jarvis, who was known to be Malcolm's closest friend.
