Rob Mariani
Bristol, RI

Born in the North Bronx, Rob attended Fordham University and lived in Manhattan for
about 12 years before moving to Providence where he worked in the ad business as copywriter and creative director.

As a life-long jazz fan Rob sees his process as similar to what happens when a jazz soloist begins to improvise on a specific series of chord changes. The solo becomes a collaboration between the soloist and the chord structures. When it's working right, something new is created. Sometimes there are "wrong notes" that don't really go with the chord changes. As a soloist, you then must find your way back to the original set of changes and that process is when something "original" and creative can happen.

Working mainly in acrylic, Rob’s work has won the “Judges Prize” at the Imago Gallery in Warren, and has been shown in many galleries throughout New England.

Light refreshments will be served.
